This is a kea parrot in the Otira Viaduct (in Arthur’s Pass). Keas are an alpine parrot — we think the only of its kind in the world, and they are very curious and come right up to your vehicle. We’ve heard they like the rubber on the window sills. It makes it a tad inconvenient when you are trying to drive away and they try to hop under your car!
