The Wellington Cable Car ride is not long. It only goes up and down a hill and has only 4 (I think) stops. It connects the downtown portion of the city to the Botanic Gardens and Kelburn, a university town/suburb of Wellington. One part that you cannot really see here is the several tunnels it goes through. The tunnels are lit up like the “Willy Wonka” tunnel (in a way). Colorful LED lights sparkle and animate as you go through, almost like you’re time traveling. … Wellington = a cool city! But we were unused to city life after spending most of our time on the more remote, rural South Island.
